Drainage and erosion control

North Carolina clay does not absorb a summer downpour, it moves it. Left alone, that water finds the lowest point on the property, which is usually a bed, a foundation, or the neighbour's yard.

The fix here was to give the water somewhere deliberate to go. A stone-lined channel runs the length of the planted border and carries runoff down the fence line, away from the beds and the house, and the surrounding ground was regraded so the water reaches it rather than pooling short of it.

Where a lot needs more than surface work, we install French drains and redirecting systems underneath instead.
